One of the most encouraging things about drum and bass of late is the amount of incredible womxn producers who are coming through, and Athena is undoubtedly one of them. An artist who broke through last year after entering into EQ50’s female mentorship program, and one that has been working with Shogun Audio as a mentee, Athena continues to impress with her soulful sound. You only have to check out her “Miss You” single on our Point of Origin Vol. 4 to hear this on show - a track heavily supported by the likes of Shy FX, LTJ Bukem, and tastemakers Drum&Bass Arena.

We’re very pleased to announce she is returning to Shogun for her second release with single “Don’t Let”, which has found a home on our Shogun Origins series. Packing the dreamy melodies and crisp drum breaks more people are coming to know her for each day, “Don’t Let” is a testament to the rising talent who is destined for big things in the scene. Don’t just take our word for it though… If you’re familiar with Goldfat Records (and especially Athena’s track “Take Flight”), then you’ll know all too well of the serene creations this artist has been cooking up over her first year in D&B.

Our Shogun Origins series is all about uncovering the best up-and-coming talents D&B has to offer, and in Athena, we’ve certainly unearthed a precious gem.
